This weekend is your last chance to see Wilton's magnificent music hall until 2013. Phase 1 of Wilton's Capital Project is beginning and due to essential repairs the auditorium will close from Monday 2nd July for six months. During Phase 1 a series of innovative, up-close theatre experiences, concerts and gigs will be taking place. Come and celebrate this remarkable time in Wilton's history with a free talk from the Wilton's Team and an introduction to the new event season.
You will be able to ask questions, find out about what the changes will mean for Wilton's future, sample a selection of happenings in the bar's newly discovered performance spaces and you will also be invited to tweet, facebook, email, text and submit messages to be put into a time capsule that will be placed under the repaired auditorium floor.
After the success of our fundraising cake-bake last year, the Sunday will also double up as a tea and cakes afternoon. You are invited to make a cake to donate which will be sold on the day. All proceeds will go towards Phases 2 and 3 of The Capital Project.
The talks are at 7pm on Saturday and 3:30pm on Sunday. As the auditorium will be closed before and after, they are your last chance to see the space.
Also the official launch of The Mahogany Bar's new upstairs cocktail bar, come and join Wilton's staff and friends at the bar and celebrate.
About the Repairs
Wilton’s has raised enough funds to begin Phase 1 of its Capital Project thanks to the generous support of SITA Trust, The Loveday Charitable Trust, The Foundation for Sport and the Arts and numerous trusts and individuals. This means that the auditorium will be closed to carry out essential repairs.
Wilton’s bar and front of house will remain open throughout the duration.
Work will include damp proofing and waterproofing and repairs to drainage, timber decay, the roof and electrics. As the hall is repaired The Mahogany Bar is going to be open more than ever. Look out for new daytime and weekend opening hours, regular food and the Constructionism Season - a unique six months of bijoux artwork in our emerging network of rooms.
