Hear the bassoon as you’ve never heard it before. Bram demonstrates - both musically and verbally - the huge range and multiple colours of his instrument. From Baroque to rock, experimentation is the name of tonight’s game with two world premiere works and a new electric guitar-effect pedal adding a dynamic new dimension to this engaging musician’s performance.

Bram van Sambeek was the first bassoonist ever to win the Dutch Music Prize. He sees no boundaries in his music making and is keen to commission new work as well as collaborate with musicians from other musical genres such as jazz and rock music. He regularly performs with some of the world’s leading orchestras and conductors. He won his BBT Award in 2011 and has used part of it to co-commission a new concerto from Finnish composer Sebastian Fagerlund which he premiered in December 2014.

  • About BBT Wednesdays at Wilton's

Virtuosity, experimentation and a profound passion for music are the hallmarks of a new class of talented young musicians, all set to perform in the intimacy of what will be Wilton's newly repaired cocktail bar and upstairs performance space. On the last Wednesday of each month, from February through June 2015, these concerts will feature BBT award-winning musicians playing an enticing range of music from Baroque to modern, including their own compositions and on sometimes under-appreciated instruments such as bassoon and recorder.

Look out for other BBT Wednesdays at Wilton’s including:
25th February: Kate Whitley, Piano, plus Guests (launch)
    25th March: Sean Shibe, Guitar
The Borletti-Buitoni Trust has been rewarding musical excellence and helping outstanding young talents to develop and sustain international performance careers since 2003.
