Wilton's

An exclusive behind the scenes peek at Wilton's archive

13th July . 7pm to 8pm . Approx 60 minutes
Free (reservation recommended) · In the Cocktail Bar

As part of the Heritage Lottery Funded restoration the Wilton’s archive has been secured. 186 boxes have been rehoused, the contents listed; now researching and digitising the collection, we are uncovering the stories of our past. From a sketch of the hall in 1871 to our latest performance recordings, the archive is a fascinating window on the history of our building, the people who lived and worked here, and the audiences that have filled our hall.

See the records of fifty years of campaigning to save Wilton’s, read Spike Milligan’s letter to HRH Prince Charles and Liza Minnelli’s annotated speech from the Café Royale. Track through our extensive photography collection as Wilton’s descends into dereliction then architectural plans designed, thrown out, redesigned creating the RIBA awarded winning venue we have today. Go behind the scenes on our productions and get hands-on with our archaeology collection: original stage footlights and pipes from our Victorian patrons.

The event will finish with a Q&A.
