Peanut Shuffle Club are singer Elly Hopkins and guitarist Jay Singh. Their musical partnership was born out of a jazz jam in Bristol’s Stokes Croft, where they found a shared love of 1930s swing.

Jay’s playing is rooted in the gypsy guitar style of Django Reinhardt and his skills have been honed around the fires of Samois, France, where descendants and admirers of the late guitar legend gather annually.

Having started with a career in theatre, Elly fuelled her schooling in jazz singing with extended time in New Orleans, and it was there that she gathered songs and inspiration and built a repertoire of lesser performed standards.

Tickled by the humour and playfulness in early recordings by such entertainers as Fats Waller, Slim Gaillard, and a young Ella Fitzgerald, Peanut Shuffle Club breathe their own exuberant energy into old hits.
