Dead Poets Live – ‘an occasional, but unmissable ongoing series of plays’ (Daily Telegraph) – have established a reputation for their stagings of poets and poems. In their time at Wilton’s they have presented T. S. Eliot and Sylvia Plath, but also Thomas Hardy, Thom Gunn and Wallace Stevens, and even the words of Bob Dylan, with performances from Toby Jones, Denise Gough, Rupert Everett, Sheila Atim, Rory Kinnear and many others.
Dramatic, enlightening, powerful, and never quite the same, audiences of Dead Poets Live have learned to expect the unexpected: an entire evening dedicated to a single poem; the history of nonsense poetry in two minutes; a poem recited in the dark, or lying in a bath; the economics of literary modernism explained in the form of a music-hall duet. This evening will be no different: an evening of great poetry, performers and surprises.
Devised and supported by The T. S. Eliot Foundation, all proceeds from Dead Poets Live‘s evenings go to the charity Safe Passage.
