Join The Lucky Dog Picturehouse for one of Buster Keaton’s greatest silent comedies, and most memorable stunts! Steamboat Bill Jr. is the river-based Romeo and Juliet comedy about rival steamer companies, all brought to life with a live musical accompaniment.
Starring Keaton as the hapless William Canfield Jr., the film combines romance, slapstick and spectacular stunts with some of the most audacious filmmaking of the silent era. From the legendary cyclone sequence to Keaton’s extraordinary deadpan precision, Steamboat Bill Jr. is an unforgettable experience on the big screen.
This screening is accompanied live by the brilliant pianist Liam Dunachie of the The Lucky Dog Picturehouse. This is silent cinema as it was meant to be experienced: communal, dynamic and completely alive.
