Harold Lloyd’s Speedy (1929) with Live Score

Get ready for a whirlwind ride through 1920s New York with Harold Lloyd’s Speedy — a joyous, fast-paced silent comedy packed with spectacular stunts, romance, chaos and one of cinema’s most beloved everymen.

Lloyd stars as Speedy, a good-natured young New Yorker whose determination to help his girlfriend’s grandfather save his beloved horse-drawn streetcar sets him off on a breathless adventure through the city. From runaway cars and rollercoasters to dizzying rooftop chases and some truly extraordinary feats of physical comedy, Speedy is a dazzling showcase for Lloyd’s trademark energy, charm and daredevil ingenuity.

For one night only, Speedy will be brought vividly to life with live musical accompaniment by pianist Christopher Eldred of The Lucky Dog Picturehouse. For almost 20 years, the musicians of The Lucky Dog Picturehouse, lead by founder and musician Emily O’Hara, have specialised in creating and performing scores for silent film, bringing a distinctive sense of drama, humour and spontaneity to these classic works.
