Ukulele-strumming cabaret star Tricity Vogue fronts a swinging line-up of jazz musicians serving up vintage music with modern energy – cheeky, sunny, stomping tunes from an all-female ensemble with bags of talent and irrepressible charm.

Let Tricity take you back to the original swinging  London of 100 years ago.  Melodic good-time music filled the dance floors with compulsive rhythms… despite public outcry against the bad influence of this “riotous” new jazz from America. But the tunes turned out by Tricity’s band are strikingly familiar: seventies disco, eighties electro-pop, nineties dance, or noughties rock, transformed with a sprinkle of syncopation. A new/old style for anyone with an offbeat taste in music.

Joining Tricity Vogue in top hats and tailcoats will be trumpeter Becca Toft, leading a three-part horn section with Alyson Cawley on tenor saxophone and Stephanie Dyer on trombone. Pianist Andrea Vicari, guitarist Emily O’Hara, double bassist Amy Baldwin and drummer Michèle Drees make up the rhythm section. An alternative ‘girl band’ of grown-up musicians whose playing will knock your socks off.

Inspired by Ivy Benson’s 1930s All Girl Band, Tricity Vogue’s All Girl Swing Band have been winning hearts and wowing audiences since 2011, and have two albums under their belts. Their annual Wilton’s extravaganza is the band’s gig highlight of the year.

It wasn’t what I was expecting – but I loved it.” Audience member, BIGG Theatre, Biggleswade
